What attachments are included?
The ThermFace Massage includes four attachments made from skin-safe silicone that does not absorb sweat, lotion, or oils.
- Heat - The primary therapy attachment. Delivers combined percussive therapy and adjustable heat. Ideal for areas with more muscle and tissue, such as the masseter, jaw, and neck.
- Cone - Targeted treatment of muscle tension, knots, and trigger points.
- Dampener - A softer attachment for sensitive areas and bonier regions, such as the temples and forehead. Prevents bouncing on areas with less soft tissue.
- Wedge - A broad surface area for larger muscles, such as the masseter and upper trapezius.
Using Your Device
- Turn on the device. Firmly press and hold the power button on the side of the device until the LED indicators light up.
- Choose your percussive therapy speed. Press the power button to toggle between the three speeds. The white LED speed indicators show the selected speed (low: 1 white light, medium: 2 white lights, high: 3 white lights). Start at the lowest speed and increase gradually based on your comfort. The speed used in your last session will become the default setting for your next session.
- Choose your heat intensity. Press the heat button to toggle through three temperature options (low: 1 orange light, medium: 2 orange lights, high: 3 orange lights). Heat is available only when the Heat Attachment is connected and percussive therapy is on. The Heat Attachment reaches the selected temperature in 30–60 seconds. Start at the lowest heat level and increase gradually.
- Use the device. Move the device slowly back and forth across your intended treatment area using the appropriate attachment. Apply light to moderate pressure as needed. Do not start by placing the device directly on an area of discomfort. Instead, work slowly around the area to reduce tension before moving toward the point of discomfort.
- Turn off the device. Firmly press and hold the power button until the device turns off.
- Lock the device. When not in use or during transport, lock the device to prevent it from turning on accidentally. While the device is powered off, quickly press the power button three times. The white LED lights will flash sequentially to indicate that the device is locked. While the device is powered off, quickly press the power button three times again to unlock. The LED lights will flash sequentially in the opposite direction to indicate that the device is unlocked.
The device automatically shuts off if percussion is idle for 10 minutes when connected to the Therabody app, or after 3 minutes when not connected to the app.
Warning: Never apply excessive pressure or any level of pressure that causes pain, discomfort, or impedes the normal function of the device. If you have long hair, secure it before use to keep it away from the percussive massage head. Long, unsecured hair may become tangled in the device and cause injury.
Connecting the Attachments
Ensure that the device is powered off before connecting or removing any attachments. Align the attachment with the device arm, then push in and twist clockwise to lock the attachment into place. To remove the attachment, twist counterclockwise and pull it off. Replace attachments if you notice signs of wear, cracking, or deformation.
Warning: Do not place your finger between the attachment and the end of the arm, as this may cause pinching or injury.
Where to Use
Use gentle pressure and let the percussive therapy do the work. Massage back and forth over each area for approximately 30 seconds per zone.
- Masseter (right/left jaw) - Heat Attachment for combined percussive and heat therapy, Dampener for a gentler massage, or Cone for more targeted treatment.
- Temporalis (right/left side of head, at the temple) - Dampener Attachment, to prevent bouncing on this bonier region.
- Sternocleidomastoid (right/left side of neck) - Heat or Dampener Attachment with light, gliding strokes.
- Occipitalis (right/left base of skull) - Dampener Attachment with gentle pressure.
- Upper trapezius (right/left top of shoulder) - Wedge Attachment for broader coverage, or Heat Attachment to ease tension.
- Mid trapezius (right/left upper back) - Wedge Attachment for broader muscle coverage.
- Zygomaticus (right/left upper cheek) - Dampener Attachment with very light pressure, or Cone Attachment for more targeted treatment.
- Frontalis (right/left forehead) - Dampener Attachment only, with very light pressure.
Do not use the device on or near these areas

- Nose, bridge of the nose, and nasal area
- Lips, mouth, and chin
- Ears and directly inside the ear canal

First-time use
- Connect the Dampener Attachment for your first 3–5 sessions.
- Use the lowest speed only, with very light pressure.
- Keep initial treatment times to 15–20 seconds per zone and limit total session time to 2–3 minutes.
- If you choose to use heat, start at the lowest heat level and use it only after you are comfortable with percussive therapy alone.
Some mild post-treatment soreness is normal for the first few sessions. If soreness persists beyond 24 hours or if you experience sharp pain at any time, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider.
